Child Care

Quality child care is a critically important part of early childhood development. The Resource Connection offers information and support to help parents find the best possible child care in their community.

The Resource Connection gives referrals to licensed Family Child Care Homes, Preschools, and Child Care Centers and child care centers exempt from licensure. Parents have the right and responsibility to select appropriate child care; the Resource Connection aims to provide information to help them to make the best choices for their families.

Referrals from the Resource Connection are free and done in accordance with state regulations and refer only to providers licensed with the State of California Community Care Licensing Division of the State Department of Social Services and child care centers exempt from licensure.

Affording child care on top of all of the other expenses families are responsible for can be difficult or, in some cases, too expensive for families to afford. The Resource Connection offers subsidy programs to help qualifying families pay for child care. The subsidy programs operate in accordance with the California Department of Education and the federal government, and allow parents to choose their own child care.

The Resource Connection also provides information and services for child care providers, including workshops, resources and professional development on topics such as, but not limited to: child care licensing assistance and quarterly orientations; running a business; nutrition; age-appropriate activities and environments; discipline techniques; CPR; First Aid and Health and Safety; scholarship and incentive programs; referrals to licensed programs; and resource and toy libraries.

The Calaveras Child Care Planning Council promotes and supports a community-wide planning effort designed to continually improve the child care system to meet the needs of our children.
