Paris Jackson reveals she suffers PTSD from paparazzi

The New York Daily News - 6/17/2021

Paris Jackson is dropping more bombshells.

The King of Pop’s only daughter is opening up about the lingering trauma and anxiety she continues to suffer as a result of growing up in the public eye.

During an intimate conversation with Willow Smith, billed as her first “Red Table Talk” takeover, the daughter of Michael Jackson revealed she has PTSD fueled by her experiences with paparazzi.

“I experience auditory hallucinations sometimes with camera clicks and severe paranoia and have been going to therapy for a lot of things, but that included,” Jackson shared.

“I’ll hear a trash bag rustling and flinch in panic,” she continued. “I think it’s standard PTSD.”

“I have, like, nightmares,” the 23-year-old celebrity personality added. “But it’s primarily, like, if I’m out in public during the day. I don’t really go out during the day. I do catch it affecting my personal relationships, especially romantic relationships. PTSD can affect pretty much every aspect of your life. I’ve just, like, started the healing process... I love EMDR [therapy]. It’s very intense, and it puts you in a very fragile and vulnerable state, but it is a very effective kind of therapy.”

Jackson, who previously portrayed a shady social media guru on the Lee Daniels-produced drama series “Star,” also discussed her sexuality with Willow. Last year during an episode of her Facebook Watch series, “Unfiltered: Paris Jackson & Gabriel Glenn,” the budding singer/actress revealed in back in 2020 that she has “dated more women than men” but “wouldn’t consider [herself] bisexual.”

She admitted that, while the confession created tension between her and some family members, her brothers Prince Michael and PrinceMichael II, as well as longtime family friend Omer Bhatti, were quick to offer support.

“They’ve always been super-supportive,” she said, adding that in an effort to better connect with her, Prince Jackson joined a student-run high school club that unites LGBTQ+ and allied youth.

“Not a lot of people can say they have siblings that support them like that,” she declared.

Jackson also revealed to Smith that she has everyone who walks into her home sign an NDA, contemplated suicide a few times and how her family’s religious beliefs played into her sexual journey.
